Low-Carbon Heat for Commercial Buildings, Done Properly

Air source heat pumps are becoming the default answer to a question every building owner now faces: how do we heat this efficiently, affordably and without relying on fossil fuels? Done well, a heat pump delivers reliable heat and hot water at a fraction of the carbon — and, increasingly, a fraction of the running cost. Done badly, it's an expensive box that never quite keeps the building warm.

WM Maintain designs, installs and maintains commercial air source heat pump systems across the UK — and, just as importantly, knows how to integrate them into the buildings and heating systems that already exist. We treat a heat pump as part of a whole heating strategy, not a product to bolt on and hope.

Designed Around the Building

A heat pump only performs if it is sized and specified for the building it serves. Oversize it and it cycles, wears and wastes energy; undersize it and it cannot keep up on the coldest days. Flow temperatures, emitter sizing, hot water demand and control strategy all have to be designed together.

We survey the building and how it is actually used, then design a system matched to its real heat load — whether that is a full heat pump solution or a hybrid arrangement that works alongside existing plant while the estate transitions.

Installation Without Disruption

Retrofitting low-carbon heating into a live building is where experience shows. Switchovers are planned around occupancy, temporary heat is provided where continuity matters, and the work is sequenced so the building is never left cold.

Every installation is commissioned properly and handed over with the records, warranties and a maintenance plan that keep it performing for the long term.

Heat Pump Servicing That Protects Efficiency

A heat pump's efficiency drifts quietly — refrigerant charge, fouled coils, failing sensors and drifting controls all chip away at performance long before anyone notices the building is costing more to heat. As an F-Gas certified company, we service heat pump systems on planned schedules that keep them efficient, compliant and reliable.

Statutory refrigerant checks, controls review and component inspection are all logged and certified — so the system keeps delivering the low running costs and low carbon it was installed for.

Part of a Whole-Estate Heating Strategy

For most estates, moving to low-carbon heat is a journey, not a single project. We help clients plan it — identifying which sites and systems are ready for heat pumps now, where hybrids make sense, and how the transition fits alongside the gas, HVAC and mechanical maintenance we already provide.

One partner, one plan, and honest advice about what pays for itself and when.

Whether you're replacing end-of-life plant, planning a low-carbon transition, or just want a straight answer on whether a heat pump is right for your building, WM Maintain brings certified engineers and real commercial heating experience to the job. Tell us about your buildings and we'll take it from there.
