Commercial Solar That Pays Its Way

Solar PV has become one of the most straightforward ways for a commercial building to cut its energy bills and its carbon footprint at the same time. Large roofs on warehouses, distribution centres, schools and production facilities are ideal — flat, unshaded and sitting above a building that uses power all day. A well-designed system can pay for itself within a few years and keeps generating for decades after.

WM Maintain designs, installs and maintains commercial solar PV systems across the UK. As an M&E contractor with NICEIC-approved electrical engineers, we handle the whole job in-house — survey, design, installation, grid connection applications, commissioning and ongoing maintenance — with the same accountability we bring to every other building service.

Designed for the Building and Its Load

A good solar system starts with the building, not the panels. We survey the roof structure, orientation and shading, the electrical infrastructure, and — most importantly — how and when the building actually uses power. The system is then sized so as much of the generation as possible is used on site, where it is worth the most.

Where it makes sense, we design in battery storage so daytime generation covers evening and overnight demand, and future-proof the installation for heat pumps, controls and other electrification the estate is planning.

Installation With Minimal Disruption

Our engineers install around live operations — planning roof access, safe working at height and electrical switchovers so the building keeps running throughout. The electrical installation is carried out and certified by our NICEIC-approved team.

We manage the DNO (G98/G99) grid connection applications, commission the system, and hand over with full documentation, warranties and access to the monitoring platform so you can see what the system is doing from day one.

Maintenance That Protects Output

Solar output falls quietly when panels soil, strings fault or an inverter trips and nobody notices for weeks. Our planned maintenance covers panel cleaning, string and insulation testing, inverter checks, thermal imaging and periodic electrical inspection — with monitoring alerts so a drop in generation is picked up and dealt with quickly.

The same team can take on the maintenance of systems installed by others, bringing an estate's existing solar under one plan with the rest of its building services.

Part of a Whole-Estate Energy Strategy

Solar rarely stands alone. Combined with air source heat pumps, a well-tuned BMS and efficient plant, it forms the core of a credible route to lower running costs and net-zero targets. We help clients plan that journey site by site — and, as one partner, deliver and maintain it.

If you have roof space and an electricity bill, solar is worth a straight conversation. Tell us about your buildings and we'll assess what a system could realistically deliver for your estate.
